It all started at age 14 when my mother and I invested in a 2 Disc Newmark CD DJ Mixer, a pair of Behringer speakers, a fold out table, microphone, and some Parcan lights. I began DJing at parties, social gatherings, weddings, schools, and all types events around Jacksonville, Fl under the name “DJ Bullet”. Playing so many different events that required various styles of music to please really helped shaped my skills of reading the dance floor early on. My reputation of captivating crowds began to grow throughout the city as my song selecting and MC skills improved.
In 2011 I began taking the stage at various clubs and venues in Jacksonville on a weekly basis at the city’s top dance nights such as WideAwake Wednesdays, Bangarang Saturdays, The Social Academy, and Margarita Mondays. It wasn’t long before I became a resident at all these clubs and was welcomed back regularly to preform.
In 2013 I moved to Orlando, Fl to attend Full Sail University and enrolled in their award winning Recording Arts Program. From 2013-2016 I studied recording, music production, and the science of audio. I broke into the Orlando dance scene by DJing at Roxy Night Club on a monthly basis for Take Over Tuesdays. Playing regularly in a different city lead me to increase the diversity of my library even more, most significantly leading to a new love and respect for all forms of house music. Eventually I was booked at Venue 578 as support for 3lau.
Following my graduation I wanted to create a project to showcase my original music and specialized DJ sets that encompasses the highlights of my music library. I named this project BPM (Billy Parry Music) with the intention of keeping all types of music lovers grooving during my sets. Throughout 2016 I promoted this project and had the honor of sharing the stage with Kennedy Jones, Slander, Elephante, Night Owls, and SkyHye. As 2017 progresses I plan to release several original tracks and continue playing at clubs all over Florida spreading the sounds of BPM!
